A must for student organizers, this Traveling Classroom event details practical ways to raise awareness, educate and organize, spark further interest and dialogue, and develop concrete plans of action on social justice issues in your community. Drawing on their experience gained in EFJ’s Stop Nike Sweatshops campaign, Leslie Kretzu and Jim Keady break down the components necessary to conduct effective popular education and grassroots organizing. Areas to be explored include:

  • Defining Audience/Constituency
  • Getting Constituency Interested to Learn About the Issue

This interactive multi-media presentation includes slide shows, role-playing and a Question-Answer period. It can be modified according to the knowledge and experience of audience members, as well as focused on issues particularly important to the host community or campus.
